Should Sports Betting be Legalized for all Citizens Over 18 Years-old in the United States?

For several centuries, homosapians have found entertainment through sports whether recreational, or competitive. Sports betting is one of the safest and most entertaining forms of gambling, sports betting can trigger joy, fuel the economy, and support communities. Unfortunately, in the United States we cannot partake in the wonders of sports betting due to the belief that gamblers cannot control themselves. Thus, for the reasons stated above it is vital that sports betting is legalized for all citizens over 18 in the United States.

In order to fully understand the topic, it is necessary to first understand what sports betting is. Sports betting is the activity of predicting sports results and placing a wager on the outcome. The frequency of sports bet upon varies by culture, with the vast majority of bets being placed on association football, American football, basketball, baseball, hockey, track cycling, auto racing, mixed martial arts, and boxing at both the amateur and professional levels. Sports betting can also extend to non-athletic events, such as reality show contests and political elections, and non-human contests such as horse racing, greyhound racing, and illegal, underground cockfighting. It is not uncommon for sports betting websites to offer wagers for entertainment events such as the Grammys, the Oscars, and the Emmy Awards. Sports bettors place their wagers either legally, through a bookmaker/sportsbook, or illegally through privately run enterprises (Dave Lougee). It dates back hundreds of years ago…
